Hey friends! Wednesday got away from me after the mega Anniversary Sale Try-On Haul I posted Tuesday night, so I decided to give you a little time to digest that before pulling together this week’s What I Wore Lately. Plus, I figured two back-to-back posts of mirror selfies might be a bit much, so I shared The Best Third Pieces for Summer yesterday instead. All that to say, I’m back today with a Friday edition of What I Wore Lately!

It’s been a hot and humid couple of weeks here in the Philly suburbs, with a brief reprieve over the 4th—which was glorious. I’m so thankful we had nice weather for our party! But now it’s back to feeling like pea soup, and I’ve been spending most of my days basking in the A/C. As you might expect, my outfits have been very casual…
SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small or medium in tops and dresses, a 29 or 30 in jeans and pants, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.
Diving right in, this is what I wore to work from home after a marathon try-on session. I love this top! The color is gorgeous, and the length and shape make it perfect for wearing untucked. I usually pair it with blue denim, but I’m really loving it with the white, too.

I finished the look with my green and white Steve Madden sneakers; I like how the pink accents tie everything together.

I snapped a quick pic of my workout look the next day after my morning walk, when I was on my way to the gym. I really like this visor for walking and also to keep the sun off my face when I’m in pool.

Athleta Ascent Seamless Tank (M) // Vuori Clementine shorts (M) // XERO HFS II (8.5) // TrailHeads sun visor
The next day, I kept it simple with jeans and a tee for working from home and a nail appointment that afternoon. This Margarita tee is from last year’s #NSale, and this year’s version is already selling out. I’m sure there will be restocks, so keep an eye on it if it was on your wish list. It runs a bit small, so I recommend sizing up.

This is what I wore to Pilates on a Saturday morning—my favorite Vuori leggings (I just snagged the Moss Heather color on sale!) and Athleta workout tank. The leggings are super soft and stretchy, and the tank has just the right length with a relaxed, easy fit.

Athleta In Motion Tank (M) // Vuori leggings (M) // Vuori jacket (M) // New Balance sneakers (8.5)
We made spontaneous dinner plans that night, and I took the opportunity to wear my red sweater vest for the first time. I paired it with white flare jeans and added gold jewelry and neutral accessories. This might be my favorite look from the past two weeks!

WHBM sweater vest -25% off (M) // MOTHER Weekender (30) // Dolce Vita Mylee Heels (7.5) // similar link bracelet // Jenny Bird earrings // similar necklace
I wore this to church the next day, and every time I look at this picture, I cringe a little. I swear the outfit felt more flattering in person! (This is why mirror selfies are so helpful—this look isn’t bad, but compared to the ones above and below, it’s night and day.)
On a brighter note, Amy found a great bag with a similar look to my YSL for a fraction of the price, and I loved the jewelry I wore here. This beaded charm layered necklace, nautical charm bracelet, and braided snake chain bracelet are all new. (I’m trying to step up my jewelry game this summer!)

That afternoon, I threw on this simple top and jean shorts to hang out at home.

This was another laid-back look for working from home last week—an easy tie-dye tank, cropped jeans, and my comfy Birks.

For my family birthday dinner the next day, I decided to step outside my comfort zone and wore this new Reiss sundress. It’s not my usual style, and I felt a little out of my element at first, but I was in the mood for something different from my typical white jeans and top pairing or a sheath dress. It was fun to mix things up.
I almost wore the Mylee heels but decided to dress it down with these strappy jelly sandals instead. They’re fun and a little trendy, and I love how they keep the outfit from looking too serious.

I debated going with bold jewelry, but I didn’t feel like I had the right pieces. Since the dress is pretty busy on its own, I decided to keep it simple with gold hoops, a link necklace, and a slim bangle.

For our 4th of July pool party, I thought I might wear this fun denim skirt with the drawstring waist. I tried it on with two new striped top options that had just arrived.
I liked both outfit combos, but the navy stripe felt a little too oversized, and the red stripe print wasn’t as bold as I’d envisioned. I also wasn’t sure about the fit of the skirt—it looked a little bulgy around the middle from certain angles.

In the end, I went with this blue muscle dress instead. It didn’t feel quite as festive as the denim skirt outfits, but it’s easy, comfortable, and perfect for a long day of hosting. I knew I didn’t want to be fussing with a denim skirt or adjusting my top all afternoon.
To jazz it up a bit, I added raffia hoops, a beaded bracelet stack, and a white-and-gold seed bead necklace with a hammered coin pendant (the white sold out, sorry!). I finished the look with my buckle raffia slides. (See more tips on the best third pieces for summer to complete your outfit.)

The next day, we went out to lunch and did some walking around downtown, and I decided to give the denim skirt another try. This time I paired it with a solid red tee, and I really like how this look came together.
I decided that all denim skirts do that little bulgy thing around the middle, and I just need to get over it. LOL! Isn’t it funny how sometimes that kind of clarity strikes out of nowhere, and other times you overthink it to death… Or is that just me? 🤪

I wore this simple white denim outfit to church the next day. This striped linen-blend top is nice and light for warm summer days, and I love the bra-friendly gussets at the armholes.
These white MOTHER Hustler Flare Ankle Jeans aren’t on sale, but they’re eligible for a Bloomingdale’s Loyallist Rewards offer—receive a $25 Reward for every $100 you spend on select items. That means you’d get $50 in Rewards. Not bad!

EVEREVE Beckett Muscle Shirt (S) // MOTHER Hustler (30) // Dolce Vita Mylee (7.5) // similar bag // similar hoops // hammered coin pendant// similar link necklace // J.Crew Braided snake chain bracelet
I came home and changed into a more casual denim look to get together with friends that afternoon. By the way, I noticed that some beek Sunbeam Flip Flops are on sale at Amazon. I’ve never seen them marked down before! I love that they have light arch support, and the quality leather feels like such a nice upgrade from a typical plastic flip-flop.

Monday was a busy day with errands and trying to work ahead, since I knew I’d be shopping the #NSale the next day. I decided to switch it up from my usual t-shirt and jeans, so I flipped it and wore white shorts with a denim button-up. I pulled out my boat shoes too. I haven’t worn them as much as I thought I would, but they felt like the perfect match for this slightly preppy summer look.

And then here’s what I wore to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale in-store on Tuesday—clearly, I’ve come around on the skirt!

I completely forgot to take outfit pictures the past two days—I was working non-stop from dawn to dusk (well, bedtime, really). This week is always a whirlwind for content creators. There’s always more I want to do, but at some point, you just have to call it done.
Speaking of which, today’s the last day to shop the Amazon Prime Day Deals! I updated my Prime Day Favorites with a few new additions I found last night. I also cleaned up the list and removed some random items that weren’t my picks. I’m not sure how they got added, but now it’s updated with only the things I truly love and use.
Amy and I also pulled together some fun fashion finds that are Prime Day Deals. I don’t usually share much Amazon Fashion, but they’re carrying more name brands these days, and many are in partnership with Shopbop (which Amazon owns).
In fact, Shopbop is even running its own set of Prime Day Deals if you link your Amazon Prime account. So, yeah… sale overload this week, but if you’re shopping, there are some great deals to be had. Just don’t wait—Prime Day ends tonight!

Jo-Lynn, what size are you wearing in the green and white Steve Madden sneaks? I ordered them before I saw them on you, and had to return them…way too small..both length and width
Thanks
I have the 8.5 but I could probably use the 9.
I bought the Steve Madden sneaks. They are so comfortable but I could have sized up 1/2 size as well.
I totally agree about letting go of minor hang ups on occasion- it’s amazing how freeing it can be! Lots of great outfits in this mix. I do see your frustration with the outfit you wore to church, do you think it’s be better if you swapped the cropped white pants and flat sandals for the full length white ones with heels in the picture above it? I think it’s cute as is, but I wonder if that might make it feel more polished? Love that red vest too, such a flattering color and style! Can’t wait to see how you transition it into fall.
Yeah, everything looks better with full length flares, lol. But with the crop jacket, the crop jeans should work at least as far as vertical proportions go. I just feel like there’s a lot of volume in the middle, and in the thigh area too.
I like the church outfit on you.
Great post, I’ve already put that Evereve blue dress in my cart, looked at it last time you featured it but it was out of stock then.
Can you share any details on the middle finger ring I noticed you’re wearing with the brown and white dress? Thanks!
It’s John Hardy.
I love the Reiss dress on you! It’s sold out in my size. Maybe they will restock.
I absolutely LOVE that Reiss dress on you! It is truly a stunning dress that looks like it was made for you.
Thank you!
How would your Wesley wood earrings look w/ the Reiss maxi dress? Just a thought –
Thanks for all the time, energy, and consideration you put into your blog 🙂
I considered them, but I felt like the dress and shoes are more luxe, and the earrings are, well… not. LOL. It just seemed a little bit incongruous in that respect, but I agree, the styles and colors and all work. I probably should have worn them.
I have long struggled with the pooch a denim skirt does at the belly!! Why?? Jeans don’t do this so I’m a bit baffled, and also not an engineer to try to figure it out. lol. I have wondered if there was one with “magic pockets” like Crew or Madewell use that might help? Clearly I’ve worked myself up at times over this! Your outfits are great!
I know I think it’s one reason I don’t wear denim skirts very often, even though I like them in theory.
Do you feel the Kut denim skirt runs small? The Evereve site says it runs small and to size down, and typically I do size down in Kut jeans. I saw you are wearing an 8, so you didn’t size down?
I think you mean runs big. And yes, I usually wear 8 in KUT skirts and I’m between a 6 and 8 in their jeans. I didn’t try the size 6 skirt but this 8 is very comfortable so I could have possibly sized down, but I also don’t like it when skirts are too tight. I’d rather have it a little roomy.
I ordered the Nora Muscle T dress and I’m so glad to see you wearing it. It’s so comfortable and easy to wear. I have a casual date night with the hubby this evening and planning to wear it. My hang up is a bit of a tummy, and I’ve decided that I’m not going to care because I’m pretty trim elsewhere. (lol) I’ve noticed the same with a denim skirt as well but getting over our minor hang ups is a positive. I love all your styles and glad to see you wearing those jewelry pieces from Anthropology as I’ve had my eye on the charm necklace. So pretty!
Thank you for all you do! I’m very grateful.
I like all of these outfits and I really like the Reiss dress on you! Thanks for all you do!
I have the SM sneakers, bought them when I saw them on you b4! The only thing I’m not happy about is that when you wear them several times, they become looser and not as supportive as in the beginning. I absolutely love the jean skirt and might pick that up. There was a style denim shorts I saw somewhere–that had the same look with the drawstring front–I’d love to find that.
These?
Great post!! I love your outfits! Thanks for your comments: I am noticing things better, thanks to you!!
Fabulous outfits!
I bought the Evereve Nora dress….have received compliments! Got it from your link when you first styled it! Love it!!!
Yay, so happy to hear that!
