What I Wore Lately Vol. 59

Greetings, friends! It’s time for another edition of What I Wore Lately. This is when I round up my daily outfits from the past couple weeks and tell you a little about where I wore them and how they came together.

It’s that time of year when things are starting to sell out, but I’ll do my best to link similar in those cases.

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and around 137 pounds, with an hourglass shape. Unless I say otherwise, I’m wearing a 6/28 in pants/jeans, a small in tops, a 6 in dresses/jumpsuits, and size 8 shoe.

What I Wore Lately

These looks go back exactly two weeks. I wore this repeat outfit on a Tuesday to work from home for most of the day, and to take my daughter to an appointment. Black and olive is one of my go-to color combinations. It works all times of year, but I really like it in the summertime because it’s somewhat unexpected. The linen tee and strappy sandals give it a light and airy feel, even though the colors are dark.

Another day working from home, and by the looks of it (hair and makeup), I might have done some try-ons. I love this soft tank with the raw edge details.

Chaser Canyon Raw Edge Tank c/o Evereve // Mother Insiders (size up; similar for less) // Dolce Vita Izabel Slides // Madewell Story Necklace // Madewell link earrings

Wow, hair and makeup two days in a row! I do remember having a photo shoot with Alison the morning I wore this outfit.

I wore this casual look to work from home on a Friday. I don’t have anything on my calendar, so I don’t think we went anywhere that night either. The sateen joggers are on sale! They’re super stretchy and comfortable, and you may want to size down if in between.

Free People camo tee (S) // Level 99 utility joggers (size 28) // Dolce Vita slides

Evidently I was feeling the utility jogger vibes last week! Does anyone else do that? I seem to get in a mood for a certain color combo or type of clothing and reach for similar things a few days in a row. I wore this to the mall with my girls on a Saturday.

That brings us to the Sunday before last, and I considered wearing this black dress, but when I got the outfit together, it seemed a little too beachy-casual for church, even though our church is very casual.

Z Supply dress (S) // Sam Edelman flip flops // Nordstrom colorblock tote

So I switched back to this tried and true Eileen Fisher shift from the #NSale 2019. I’m sorry that it’s old, and I don’t know of anything very similar to link to, but I do want to call out these Kendra Scott earrings from the #NSale.

They’re still in stock in both silver and gold, and I really like them. They’re classic, but unique in that split hoop design, and they’re the perfect size — not too big as to be a statement earring, but not so delicate that they disappear.

I’m not sure what happened to this picture or why it’s so grainy! But anyway, I guess it was a chilly day because I wore this casual sweatshirt with shorts when I got home after church. I think maybe it was rainy? I also seem to remember having a couple of friends over that afternoon, which I guess is why I changed my earrings. The other ones are a little big for this casual look.

Z Supply pullover (on sale!) // KUT From The Kloth shorts (size 6; also at Nordstrom) // Freedom Moses slides (TTS) // Madewell hoops

The next day, I had some errands and an appointment, so I wanted to look a little more elevated, but it was hot, so I went with utility shorts and this stripe tee. The tee is old, and the shorts are almost sold out. These are sort of similar, but longer, and these have a similar vibe.

I had a photo shoot last Tuesday, and I threw on this casual outfit when I got home. It was hot and humid, as I recall. These shorts are true to size, but size up if ordering the tee.

Splendid v-neck tee (size M; also at Zappos) // Agolde Parker shorts (size 28; also at Nordstrom) // Dolce Vita slides // Madewell necklace // Madewell earrings

I snapped this when I got back from the gym the next morning because I realized that I never really share my workout outfits, but everyone needs workout clothes! This is one of my favorite combos — this tank has that grippy stuff under the hem so it doesn’t ride up when I run, and these leggings are incredibly flattering, as well as lightweight and breathable.

Athleta tank (S) / Sweaty Betty leggings (size M; also at Nordstrom & Backcountry) // Brooks sneakers

I showered off and got dressed in this comfy skirt and muscle tank combo to run some errands.

Michael Stars muscle tank (size S) // Sundry Saturday Skirt (size 2) // Dolce Vita Lester Slides // R Minkoff Megan Hobo // Madewell earrings

And then that night, I met a friend for dinner. I ended up changing because I was afraid I’d be cold in the restaurant, and that was a good move. I did have to wear the jean jacket.

snap trim tank // Mother Insiders (TTS or size up if in between; also at Saks) // Marc Fisher slides // Vince Camuto denim jacket // Evereve necklace // Lagos bracelets

The next day, I threw on this repeat outfit to work from home. These jeans are so comfortable. For whatever reason, they’re softer than the Mother Insiders from the #NSale and also the white ones, and they’re also cut more generously. I checked the fabric composition, and they’re similar, but slightly different than the white ones and the #Nsale ones.

All that to say, these are true to size, but consider sizing up in the white (I wish I had tried the 29) and definitely size up at least one full size in the #Nale version. Want the look for less? Try the Madewell Demi Boot style, or the Mavi Anika.

Alrighty! Let’s move this train along. I wore this last Friday to the nail salon for a mani/pedi.

Maine sweatshirt (boutique purchase) // Good American Good Bermuda Shorts (size 6; also at Nordstrom) // Tory Burch sandals // AllSaints shoulder bag // Lagos bracelets

And when I got home, I was too hot for the sweatshirt, so I changed into this lightweight tank.

I spent Saturday afternoon by the pool with some family who was in from out of town.

Z Supply dress (size S) // Dolce Vita slides // Gucci sunnies (similar for less)

And I changed into these comfy favorites for dinner.

Treasure & Bond tee (size S) // Mother Insiders (TTS; similar for less here and here) // Dolce Vita slides // Madewell necklace

Then on Sunday, I wore this repeat outfit to church and out to lunch afterwards. It’s simple, but I love the proportions, and of course that olive/black color combo. Notice how the asymmetrical cut of the strappy sandals elongates the line of the leg. These shoes work really well with the crop flares.

BR dolman top (size S) // Mother Insiders (TTS or size up if in between) // Bella Vita sandals // Madewell necklace // Kendra Scott earrings // Monica Vinader bracelet // Tory Burch Carson Hobo

I did some try-ons after church, and I wore this comfy outfit for the rest of the day.

Roan + Ryan tie dye tank (size S) // Wit & Wisdom shorts (size 6) // Dolce Vita slides // Kendra Scott earrings // Monica Vinader bracelet

And that’s a wrap! I don’t have any outfit pictures from yesterday. Trust me, you don’t need to see that! I haven’t been feeling very good, so I’ve been a bit of a slug. I’m going to try to rally today.

I’ll be back tomorrow with my favorite boots and bags from the #NSale! Public Access starts at 3AM EST tonight/tomorrow morning, so I’ve scheduled my post to publish at that time.

There’s a lot of good stuff left, even though a lot of popular items sold out. And I do see restocks trickling in, assumably as people are making returns, so check back on your favorites regularly. I’m hoping to see some of the Nordstrom made brands getting restocked. There were some really good affordable tops and sweaters in the Caslon and Treasure & Bond lines that sold out fast, and I heard they had inventory issues, so I’m hoping they might iron out the kinks and restock some of those before the sale ends. *crossing my fingers*

  1. There are so many looks that I really like. You found some nice fitting Bermuda shorts They look really nice on you. I see five or six that I’m sorry I didn’t purchase.

  2. I always enjoy these posts. Thank you for all the effort they take, Jo-Lynne. I love the black joggers from EverEve. I debated buying the olive Paige joggers 2 years ago and finally did and I wear them year-round– they were a great investment. The black joggers are in my cart but I haven’t pulled the trigger yet. Mostly because the Nordy sale items are still trickling in and I don’t know what I’m keeping. I’m making returns in the store tomorrow so others can have what I’m not purchasing. I ordered several high-end items that I’m a bit disappointed in– an AllSaints bag that is not shaped anything like the photo and shoes that are gorgeous but you can’t walk in them.

    1. If you’re talking about that slouchy shoulder bag, I love it, but it definitely doesn’t look anything like the picture on the website. And yeah, the Frame flip-flops are hard to walk in, but I love them so I’ve been wearing them when I don’t have to go too far. Probably silly, considering the price, but they really are gorgeous. I think the Paige joggers are more versatile than these Level 99 ones, but for the price difference, I think I’ll get my cost per wear out of them.

      1. Those Frame sandals: swoon! I’m actually relieved to read they’re hard to walk distances in. I’ll stop yearning for them 😂

  3. I was hoping the spanx black pants would restock. I need to look again for my size. Last year I thought I’d take small regular or petite. They were too fitted. I didn’t reorder the medium. Now want to try them. I need black pants soooo bad. I’m public access status so I doubt I’ll be getting much. I was very underwhelmed with sale anyways for things that I’d wear or don’t already have. I love though to see you share your finds as they look way better on you than the models. It’s good to see outfits together and I really liked your post today. Did you read about Cyndi’s grand baby being born early? It’s so neat how she has her whole blog community now to pray for them all. My first grand baby was born premie and it was scary for sure but she is now healthy and happy and 2 yrs old next month. God is good. Have a great day. I really enjoy your blog. You are such a good writer that I feel I know you. 🙂

    1. Yes, she told me last night. I had a preemie in the NICU and one at home, and it was terribly upsetting and stressful. In fact, t was my Caroline too! I’m praying everyone is safe and together at home very soon.

      1. Oh wow!!! Really? Yes, very stressful time. Your Caroline is happy and healthy and pray Cyndi’s will be too.

  4. It’s obvious that you enjoy wearing black and olive together. I need to give that color combo a try. I hope that you get to feeling better real soon!

  5. JoLynne,

Longtime follower here. I love your blog and appreciate all of your hard work! I would like to know if you are still using and like the MooSoo cordless vacuum you wrote about in 2020? I’m in the market and definitely want a cordless one. Thank you.

    1. I’m not sure what the white is on my toes, but the charcoal on my hands is OPI Rub-a-Pub-Pub. The brownish color on the first set of pictures is OPI You Don’t Know Jacques.
