Coffee Talk 10.10.21

sweater (option) // tank // necklace

It’s a dark and dreary morning here in Philly, and I’m moving rather slowly. I woke up to the comforting sounds of a light rain tapping on the roof… you know, the kind that keeps lulling you back to sleep and makes it really hard to get out of bed.

I’d be happy to drink lots of coffee and putter around the house all day, but we have church this morning and then we have to make a Sweet Sixteen birthday party happen, so I’ll have to rally. R wants to go with me to pick out props and decorations, and with her band schedule, she hasn’t had a spare moment this week, so we’re supposed to go together after church this afternoon.

All that to say, it will be a full day. Rain, rain, go away!

The rest of the weekend has been dreary, but dry. Paul and I had a nice dinner out on Friday night, and we both had some work to do and errands to run yesterday. Then last night we went over to our old neighborhood for an Oktoberfest-themed get-together, and that was fun. As much as I love it here, I do miss the ease of walking down the street to see my friends. I’m glad they’re still close enough to see regularly.

After we get this party behind us, we’ll be switching our focus to getting C home for fall break. She has a plane ticket to come home this weekend, and we arranged for her ride to the airport, so hopefully it all goes smoothly for her. I hear lots of harrowing tales of air travel these days, and I would hate for her to get caught up in a big snafu. At least there are several flights a day going from Boston to Philly, so if she misses one, she can probably get on another.

As far as the blog goes, I launched my first holiday gift guide yesterday, my Gift Guide for the Guys. Be sure to check it out if you missed it. I’m planning to release a new gift guide every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday until I get through them all. This is what I have planned so far.

Be sure to let me know if there’s something else you’d like to see.

Speaking of gifts, I just got a notification in my email that Soma is doing 25% off select styles, including lots of pajamas and sleep sets. My mom and I have gifted Soma pajamas back and forth to each other so many times!

And tarte is doing one last big sale day, with 50% off fan favorites for teamtarte™ Rewards members. You can see more about my tarte makeup favorites in this post.

Also, Shopbop just launched their Fall Style event, and it’s open to members a day early. (You can sign up now, if you’re not already in their Rewards program.) It’s a tiered sale, where you can save up to 25% off. I just worked up a quick Shopbop Sale Picks page for you!

Before I go, let me show you R’s birthday cake. I think it’s so cute. Their marching band show this year is a 70’s theme — Earth, Wind & Fire, and their costumes are colorful bell bottoms and headbands. And she’s having a roller skating party, so we kind of combined the two themes.

Isn’t that fun!?! I hope it tastes as good as it looks.

Okay, on that note, I need to sign off and get ready for my day. I hope you all have a restful and blessed Sunday!
