It’s the perfect time to stock up on versatile fall pieces you’ll wear on repeat, so I put together three go-to styling formulas to take you through the season in style.

Tonal Dressing: Monochrome Made Modern

One of my favorite fall trends is tonal dressing—creating a chic outfit with pieces in the same color family. Think head-to-toe camel, soft greys, or all black for a sleek and modern vibe. I saw lighter monochrome looks like this one all over London last week, and it felt so fresh for fall. Gap Factory has everything you need to build this look, from sweaters and jeans to outer layers and accessories. The best part is, you can easily mix and match within the same color palette to create multiple outfits without much effort.

Styling tip: Choose slightly different textures within the same tone to keep the look interesting—like pairing a knit sweater with denim or a lightweight jacket.

Textured Sweaters + Easy Bottoms

When it comes to fall dressing, cozy sweaters are always at the top of my list. Gap Factory has plenty of textured knits this season, and they pair perfectly with easy bottoms like wide-leg trousers, straight jeans, or even skirts. It’s that effortless mix of cozy + polished that works for everyday errands, casual work settings, and weekends.

Styling tip: Balance a chunky sweater with a more streamlined bottom, or go with a relaxed wide leg for a slouchy-chic vibe. Either way, it’s a formula that works every time.

Elevated Layering with Lightweight Jackets

A lightweight jacket is the finishing touch that instantly makes any outfit look styled. Gap Factory’s autumn lineup includes versatile jackets—think denim, quilted, and utility styles—that you can throw over sweaters and tees. They’re easy to wear now and will carry you well into winter with heavier layers underneath.

Styling tip: Keep one in a neutral tone (like black, navy, or tan) so it layers seamlessly over everything, or try a textured style for extra interest.

  1. Thanks for the reminder about Gap Factory, I always forget it until you do one of these posts! As to the tonal dressing, is it also trending to do different shades of the same tone? For example, shades of khaki, caramel, and a warm chocolate brown all in the same outfit instead of just one?

  2. Can you do a story about the new lightweight jeans that I’m seeing for fall. I notice they are longer, and a little slouchy.
Thanks for all your research in the current fashions.

  3. I love tonal dressing and textured knits. In fact for work today, I went the tonal dressing route. 🙂 I wish I liked wearing stripes, because I like the look of the brown relaxed stripe boatneck sweater.

  4. I bought the denim leopard print jacket a few weeks ago–it does run alittle big. I had to downsize to a small from medium.
