Billie Razor Review

My Honest Billie Razor Review: my thoughts on branding, cost and convenience, and quality of shave

Let’s discuss shaving, or more specifically, The Billie Razor.

I never was one to have a strong opinion about razors. I always bought whatever 5-pack was available at the drugstore and called it a day.

In more recent years, I used some of the more expensive women’s refillable razors because I felt like they were more gentle on the skin.

Then about a year ago, I noticed a few of the influencers I follow talking about The Billie Razor. I was intrigued by the low price and the subscription plan, so I decided to try it.

Full Disclosure: I purchased my Billie razor starter kit over a year ago on my own accord, and I’ve been using it ever since. (I even included it last year in My Favorite Things!) So when Billie reached out a few weeks ago about partnering on this post, it was a no-brainer. I’m always excited to work with a brand I already use and love.

How It Works:

The Billie Razor comes in a starter kit that is only $9. It includes the handle, 2 razor blades, and a handy magnetic razor holder for the shower.

You choose the color of your handle, and then you select the frequency with which you shave, which determines how often they will send your refill cartridges.

(I shave more than once a week, but I still find that every 3 months gives me plenty of cartridges. Maybe I don’t change them as often as I should, but I don’t really even need them that often. My point is, no matter how often you save, I recommend clicking the “once a week” option.)

The refill cartridges cost $9 for four, and shipping is free. You can cancel at any time, and if you ever end up with a backlog of cartridges, it’s easy to skip a month.

Billie Razor Review: First Impressions

The Billie Razor Starter Kit

Billie does an amazing job with branding and packaging. It’s colorful, cheerful, and fun.

I chose the blue handle, as you can see. It also comes with a small holder you can stick on the shower wall, which is awesome because we don’t have much shelf space in our shower, and there really is no room on it for a razor.

I’ve never had much luck with other razor holders staying on our shower wall, but this one does. It also comes with “backup sticky stuff” in case you need it, but I never have.

The first time I shaved, I thought the razor seemed light and flimsy compared to the razors I had been using, but it gave me a good close shave.

I really love the how the blades are lined with charcoal shave soap. You almost don’t even need to use shaving cream, that’s how good it is.

I did cut myself a couple times, though, and I haven’t cut myself shaving in years. So that gave me a moment’s pause.

My Honest Billie Razor Review: Subscription Plan, Quality of Shave, Cost and Convenience

I’m still using the Billie razor, so clearly, I like it.

You can’t beat the convenience of those packages of cartridges coming in the mail. I put everything I can on auto-order these days, so this is just one more thing I don’t have to think about, which is awesome.

I do have to be careful after I’ve put a new blade on, because it’s very sharp, but I’ve learned to use a very light touch. I still get a close shave, and I rarely cut myself anymore.

I’ve seen claims that if you use the Billie razor, you won’t need to shave as often. I’m not one to shave daily or to pay much attention to how fast hair grows back, so I can’t really speak to that. I certainly don’t notice my hair growing back any faster!

Billie Razor Review: The Verdict

You absolutely cannot beat the cost and convenience of the Billie razor. The automatic refill packs only cost $9 for 4 razor blades, with free shipping. So basically, I’m spending $9 every three or four months for razors.

It gives you a good, close shave, and I love the way the blades are lined with charcoal shave soap. It can get a little bit gummy, so if you’re going to travel with it, I recommend purchasing the razor travel case.

I also love the magnetic holder, and I have no problem with it staying attached to my shower wall. I have every intention of continuing to use the Billie razor for the foreseeable future.

Billie for Holiday Gift Giving

Billie also has some great gift sets for holiday gifting!

This is the Smooth Operator Gift Set and it comes with the starter kit (a razor and 4 blade refills) plus the Billie Shave Cream and Dry-Bye Body Lotion.

It makes a nice “out of the box” — haha, see what I did there? — gift for a woman in your life. Perhaps your mom or daughter, or maybe even your bestie.

  1. I’vebeen using the Billie razor for over a year myself and I love it. I also had to get used to the sharper blade but it didn’t take long and I only cut myself once. It’s funny that you say some noticed they don’t have to shave as often. I have noticed that myself but thought it was because I am over 50 and maybe my hair growth is slowing down; who knows I guess. I have skipped a shipment in the past because I have had a backlog and am ready to do it again. I would highly recommend their razors. Great advice on the travel case; the razor does get gummy. I love how it has tiny holes in it so that the razor dries out.

  2. I have been using Billie razors for a year or two now. At 52 years old, I still shave my legs every single day year round (even in cold Wisconsin). Otherwise they get too itchy. LOL My Billie shipment comes every four weeks. They are the best razors I know of and I consider myself a leg-shaving connoisseur.

  3. I’ve used the Billie razor and have to say I like the Gillette Venus sensitive skin razor better.  I have boney shins and deep armpits and the Billie doesn’t curve enough for me.  Just an alternate opinion for those who might have this issue too.
