Top Ten in October 2021

Before we get too far into November, I wanted to round up the products and posts were the most popular last month. It’s always nice to see what resonates with you all. It helps me as I plan future content.

Top 10 Posts in October 2021

Based on Google Analytics, these were the 10 most popular blog posts that I published last month. These posts are listed in typical Top Ten order, with the most popular one last.

#10. Gift Guide for the Guys // My gift guide for the guys is always the most requested, and we really went all out this year, trying to come up with a variety of unique and thoughtful ideas for the men in your life.

#9. What to Wear when You’re Tired of Black Joggers // Loving these terracotta joggers for a change from my usual black, and you can’t go wrong with Vuori.

#8. What I Wore Lately Vol. 65 // This is a roundup of my daily looks over the span of two weeks. It always amuses me that people prefer the mirror selfies and my everyday looks to the professional photos.

#7. Holiday Gift Guide for Her // I’m really happy to see such a good response to my gift guides this year! This one is a general one for the women in your life, or maybe you need ideas to put on your wish list.

#6. What I Wore Vol 64 // And there it is, the other edition of What I Wore Lately that I posted last month. Yes, I do like my jeans, don’t I? I just don’t have much reason to dress up these days.

#5. A Fail-Proof Outfit Formula for Fall // One of my go-to outfit formulas, I love this outfit. I pretty much want to put it on and wear it right now.

#4. Understanding the Rule of Thirds in Fashion // This concept was a game changer for me when I it comes to putting outfits together. If it’s new to you, definitely give it a read!

#3. My Favorite Things // It seems like everyone loves a favorite things list, and I love putting this post together every year.

#2. Fall Try-On Haul: Cashmere Comparison + Styles from Evereve, LOFT, Old Navy & More // The only feature more popular than What I Wore Lately is my Try-On Hauls, as is evidenced by the top two posts last month!

#1. Fall Try-On Haul: Madewell, Evereve, Quice & More // And of course, first place goes to another try-on haul. Most of these items are still available, so check it out if you missed it!

Okay, moving on to popular products…

Top 10 Products in October 2021

These were the 10 most popular products across my blog and social channels last month. They’re listed in typical Top Ten order, with the most popular one last.

#10. Our Place Home Cook Duo // This two-piece cookware set replaces up to 16 kitchen tools, plus these pans are super lightweight and easy to clean. You can mix and match colors, making it a great gift or update to your kitchen cookware. When you buy the bundle, you save $60 over purchasing each individually.

#9. Vince Easyfit Crewneck Wool & Cashmere Sweater // If I could only buy one clothing item this fall, I think it would be this sweater. I just love the elegant simplicity of the cut and the color, and it’s still 40% off, so if you’ve been eyeing it or want a second color, grab it while it’s still in stock.

#8. AGOLDE Toni Mid Rise Straight Ankle Jeans (also at Shopbop) // These are by far my most worn pair of jeans this fall. I love the slim straight fit, the 26 1/2″ inseam, and the 9 3/4″ front rise. I also like this light wash a lot, but sometimes it’s too casual for the look I’m going for, so I’m on the hunt for a darker pair.

#7. Vince Camuto Prenten Loafer // These classic loafers come in a bunch of solid colors, but I especially love this leopard print for adding pattern and texture to an outfit.

#6. Caslon Funnel Neck Sweater // I only shared this sweater once, in a try-on haul, but it’s been a top performer this month and for good reason. It’s so soft and cozy, and I love the relaxed fit and wide funnel neck. I actually just ordered the rust spice.

#5. CND SolarOil Nail & Cuticle Care // One of my most used beauty products for several years running, this nail and cuticle oil keeps my nails moisturized and healthy so I can keep a gel manicure pretty much all the time. Before I started using this, I had to take a break every couple months because my nails would get dry and break.

#4. Loft Striped Boatneck Tee // This is such a good layering piece for fall, or you can wear it alone for a simple outfit.

#3. Evereve Chaser Camo Tee // I absolutely love this casual top for fall. Not only is the fabric super soft and the print really cool, but it has such good details, like the snaps at the sleeves and sides, and the flattering v-neck. It’s on sale for $39, and it runs TTS, but I like to use a small piece of fashion tape on each side up by my collar bone to keep the neckline from sliding down too far.

#2. Aquis Microfiber Hair Towel // I highly recommend this hair towel. I have two, so I’m not without it when it’s in the wash, and my daughters use them now too. The microfiber is gentler on your hair than a terry cloth towel, and helps reduce frizz, plus it’s easier to twist into a turban than a typical towel.

And the winner is! Drumroll please . . . 🥁

#1. Tarte Lights, Camera Lashes // This was by far and away the most popular product on the blog this month, by almost three times! SO many of you bought this when it went on sale, and I hope you all love it as much as I do. It has totally replaced my favorite mascara from the past 30 years. I also appreciate that it’s a cleaner product than most.

And that’s a wrap for October! I’m excited about all of the content I’m working for November. I’ll have more outfits this month, as my gift guides are pretty much wrapping up, and we’re starting to think ahead to holiday looks. Let me know what events you have coming up and what types of outfit inspiration you need!

  1. I bought the Tarte mascara when you told us it was on sale for $10. Mine is really wet and I have to be really careful putting it on. It goes on heavy and so I have to really wipe off brush to apply. Do you find this true? I guess it’s better than too dry which most clean mascaras are. Although I do like my Fitglow one.

    1. I didn’t notice it being particularly wet, but Lancome is a very wet mascara, and I had to be careful when it was new, so that’s what I’m used to. tarte isn’t as wet as Lancome was, and as with them all, it does get drier with use. Wiggle the wand as you pull it through your lashes, and that will help separate and not clump.

  2. I love the mascara but it seems hard to they off. I use Clinique eye makeup remover but still dark circles under my eyes. Any suggestions????
