Weekend X3

Greetings, friends! Today I’m teaming up with Kohl’s to style a budget-friendly, weekend-ready look for your spring style inspiration!

Budget-friendly spring weekend style from Kohls with destructed skinny jeans, graphic tee, and pink utility jacket.

If you struggle to put outfits together or just don’t have the time to come up with new looks, you’re going to love The Outfit Bar at Kohl’s.

Curated by style expert Lilliana Vazquez, The Outfit Bar takes the guesswork out of creating outfits by mixing Kohl’s best private-label brands with national brands for head-to-toe looks that are on-trend and ready to shop.

This outfit was inspired by Lilliana’s On the Move Outfit, which combines my utility jacket and graphic tee with leggings and sneakers.

I decided to make it my own by swapping out the leggings for jeans, and the sneakers for sandals, but both looks are super fun and wearable.

It may only be Tuesday, but I’m always counting down to the weekend, and this graphic tee with the WEEKEND X3 slogan is so happy and springy with its bright, pastel color palette.

It comes in a ton of colors with various graphic slogans, so take a look and see which one resonates with you. The price is so good, you can justify buying more than one! It runs true to size; for reference, I’m in the small.

Because denim is practically a requirement for weekend wear, I set out to find a great pair of casual light-wash jeans to complement this pastel-hued graphic tee.

These LC Lauren Conrad cuffed skinnies caught my eye when I was shopping in-store. They’re a lightweight denim that’s perfect for spring and summer, and I love the raw cuff detail. The distressing on the knees and thigh looks pretty good too.

I was even more pleased when I tried them on. They fit great, and they feel good on too. I wore them for a few hours after this shoot, and they remained comfortable and didn’t bag out at all.

Color me impressed! These jeans are definitely a good value for the price. I have the Pearl Wash in a size 8, for reference.

I topped off the look with this pink utility jacket. It’s called lavender rain, but it looks like more of a dusty rose. Whatever you call it, it’s so pretty for spring, and it complements the light blue denim perfectly.

This jacket is lightweight with just enough stretch to be comfortable to wear all day, and the drawstring waist allows you to cinch it for a flattering fit. I cuffed the sleeves towards the end of the shoot for a more laid-back vibe.

Style Tip: A jacket is generally more flattering if you cuff the sleeves because a 3/4-length sleeve gives the illusion of a longer and slimmer look.

While this outfit would be super cute with sneakers or flat sandals, I opted for a wedge sandal.

Crochet detail is huge this season, and I love how these sandals incorporate that trend into this look. Plus the feminine styling creates a pleasing juxtaposition against the more masculine lines of the utility jacket and the rugged ripped jeans. They run true to size; I have the 8.

This is the perfect outfit for running errands on a Saturday or hanging out with friends on the patio on a mild evening. If you want even more spring outfit inspiration at budget-friendly prices, be sure to visit Kohls.com/theoutfitbar.

  1. So cute & affordable. Seems I always have something at 1 on Tues. Bummer but will catch later. Did u get results of test back? May has been so busy with college and high school graduations for grands I may have missed.

  2. So very cute on you….I could never pull this off though. I struggle putting outfits together but according to my teen daughters, I’m getting better since I’ve started following your blog. HA! Maybe I won’t embarrass them too much! I’ll be checking out Kohl’s outfit bar, just what I need. It would also be very cool if they did a style box.

  3. Hah, I have that shirt!  And let me say, because it has some polyester in it, it washed beautifully!  Not a wrinkle in sight when I left it to dry on my drying rack!  Love the whole look you out together with it!  I was eyeing up their utulity jackets, as they seemed to have a variety of colors.  I really like the dusty rose you selected!  And the handbag of course!  I’m still loving your TB one though. I did purchase the one you are styling, but returned it.  It was just too big for me. I’m a minimalist as to what I carry in my handbags, so it looked pretty empty even when I filled it!  Let me know if that TB is ever at a good price, as I think it would be a nice investment piece. Have a great day & we’ll keep praying for some sun!!

  4. Good morning – thanks for sharing this budget friendly post from Kohl’s. I appreciate this easy casual look. Very cute and it looks comfy.

Enjoy your workout – it’s looking like spring here finally after about 9 dats of cloudy, rainy, cold/cool weather. Whew – finally!!

    Have a blessed day!

  5. My favorite jeans are from Kohl’s. The Simply Vera luxury skinny. I have four pair in three different washes.

  6.  Cute outfit and I use to shop at Kohl’s often for workwear clothes but since I now work in a casual environment, this outfit would be great….except I don’t wear my distressed jeans to work 😉. Kohl’s always has good sales as well so I think I’ll grab a few of these cute T-shirt’s you styled. Thanks and Enjoy your day!

  7. Well, I better start paying closer attention to the email messages I receive from Kohl’s because this is the first I’ve heard about the OutfitBar.  What a great idea!  And I must say, I love the jacket and tee!  If I buy them, I will need to take some pieces out of my closet.  Larry has said several times that I could probably get along just fine with fewer pairs of jeans.  He’s right!  I am realizing that there are some I hardly ever wear, so they need to go in the donate bag.  It was 49 when I got up today, going up in the 70’s with lower humidity, so mowing the yard later will be even more enjoyable.  Have a blessed day!

      1. I have pulled out 2 pair of jeans and an ON dress to donate.  I ordered a midi dress from Kohl’s along with the utility jacket & 2 tees you shared today, and a couple of pair of panties.

  8. I’ve been looking for a light colored jacket and that one likes really nice in you. What size are you wearing? I may have to order one!

  9. This outfit is super cute on you! Great casual outfit! Can’t believe you found it all at Kohl’s! I really like how you found it all for us. Now all we have to do is shop through your site from the comfort of our couch.

  10. Hi Jo-Lynne!
    Thanks for the inspiration!
You turned me on to Earthies shoes a couple years ago. Love the arch supports in the flats. But now their website says the Earthies brand is no more! Do you know of any other cute shoes with real arch supports?
Thank you from someone with tired feet.
    Sara

  11. Great outfit! I love the shoes (and the slides that you just ordered!). I love my utility jacket and wear it all the time. This might be the year I finally break down and get a jean jacket! 🙂

  12. This is a cute outfit!  Thanks for the info on the Outfit Bar.  Who knew?  I shop Kohl’s a lot and this was the first I’ve heard of it.  Between that, and all your outfit posts, I’m set for ideas now.  Ha.  I was just in there yesterday and saw that ”weekend” graphic tee.  It’s very cute.  I just wish they had it in petite.  Hoping to see you on FB Live this morning!

    1. I always think of a romper as shorts, and a jumpsuit as pants or culottes. I’m not positive that they can’t be used interchangeably, but that’s how I differentiate them. 🙂

  13. Great post! I have a jacket that same color and style that I got at TJMaxx, I think it is a Sam Edelman. Love the jeans with the wedges, definitely my style! Looks like you went to Valley Forge National Park for the photos? Lovely!! Hope to “see” you at 1.

  14. I really liked your casual look today. I have been thinking about getting a utility jacket, and after seeing yours, I think I will try this one.
A question for you:  I liked your fight the frump with sweaters yesterday but I am still a little confused. I have purchased several longer cardigans after seeing them on you and other bloggers. I am only 5’1” and built exactly like you otherwise. Some longer cardigans have worked and others make me look like I am a little girl wearing her daddy’s sweater 😉. For instance, the mustard Loft sweater looks great even though it’s longer. The Caslon oatmeal hoodie sweater from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale last summer did not work. I buy the sweaters in petite when I can, but it usually doesn’t help. Then when you showed the black and white Nordstrom sweater with 3 quarter sleeves, you thought it looked dated, but really, that type of sweater seems to look best on me. I do leave a couple of buttons unbuttoned and wear a form fitting tank under, and it seems to work. Can you please clarify this for me?

    1. Yeah, they really are tricky. I think we’re always better off wearing what looks best on us – regardless of what’s trending. So while a style may be dated, if it looks good on you and you wear it with other pieces that are more “now”, it can work. At the end of the day, it takes a lot of trial and error to figure out what works. I think taking pictures is really key when trying to figure out if an outfit or an item works for us because we are each unique. I can always see a lot more from looking at my mirror selfies than I can from looking at myself in the mirror… if that makes any sense. And sometimes I think I love something, and I get pix back from Alison, and I see it in a whole different light. Yikes! So yeah… there is no easy answer, unfortunately.

Speaking of the two sweaters you mention, they are very different. The LOFT boyfriend sweater is shorter than the Caslon one (I think I know which one you mean – did it have the waist that could be cinched?) and it’s a finer gauge knit. While I like the Caslon one a lot, I feel the boyfriend sweater is more flattering on me personally. It’s not really a trendy style, but it feel good in it anyway b/c it fits so well. I hope that helps!

      1. You were very helpful. That all makes sense. Yes, that’s the Caslon sweater I meant.
I will take some mirror selfies when I am unsure. That’s a great idea. Thank you for answering so quickly. That’s one of the reasons you are my favorite blogger.

  15. I was just shopping at Kohl’s last week.  I always find lots of things I like there.  This time, I limited myself to jewelry and sunglasses.  I really like that pink utility jacket, though.  I will have to keep it in mind for the future

  16. Love this casual look and love Kohl’s! This is right up my alley for a weekend casual look. Sad that we have no Kohl’s in Canada but will see how much they charge for shipping. That dusty pink utility jacket is lovely!

  17. So cute. Love everything about it. I wish I had stopped into kohl’s when we were in Maine on the weekend but my shopping seem to have reached the max!!  I did buy a t shirt that’s a soft pink and it says sunshine x3 … I think I should wear it every day because we are lacking the sun yet again in fact we just had hail!!! Like it’s May right lol..
    Have a great day

  18. You look so cute in the outfit from Kohl’s.  I LOVE the shoe you featured on your shoe crush. Just ordered it. I was looking for a summer sandal this color.  It will go with everything. I hope its the light color it shows on the Nordstrom site.  I think of camel….color name it says as more of a cordova color.

  19. Loved the kohl’s post. Affordable and super cute styles!  Random question I am looking for athletic socks that don’t fall in my shoe when walking…thought since you run you may have a favorite .  Thank you. Have a great day!
