wearing

Good morning! I hope you had a good week, and stayed safe if you were having severe weather. We didn’t get any snow here in Philly, but we had lots of rain and high winds. We lost our power twice, but everything is back up and running, and hopefully that’s the last of it.

My weekend has been a bit of a blur. I can’t believe it’s Sunday already! Our high school daughter performed in a “battle of the bands” fund raiser on Friday night at the high school, and Paul and I were parent volunteers in various capacities.

It was really fun, especially since we know a lot of the kids who were participating. We enjoy live music of all styles and levels of accomplishment, and some were actually quite impressive.

We spent a good part of yesterday used car shopping, since one of our cars bit the dust last week. I tell ya, there’s never a dull moment with teenage drivers in the house! And then I had fun catching up with my best friends last night. Suffice it to say, I’ve earned a Sunday afternoon nap!

In other news, I need to start thinking about what I’m going to pack for a trip I’m taking later this week. I’m going on a wellness retreat at one of the Miraval Resorts. Stay tuned to find out which one!

I’ve never done anything like this before, and I’m so ready for it. I’ve been keeping an eye on the weather and trying to stay healthy, hoping nothing will derail my plans.

I ordered a few new pieces from Vuori that I think will be good for some of the activities I signed up for. I really like these new Granite high waist flares and the matching Granite funnel neck top, and I also picked up this plyo tank (in a size large), which I’ve already worn to pilates.

This long sleeve ruched tee is super cute too, but I need to re-order in the large, as the medium is suuuuper tight. I think I’ll throw in a pair of the Granite joggers, too. They may not arrive before my trip, but I think they’ll be nice to have this winter, since the original Performance Jogger isn’t very warm.

I also ordered the Spanx Essentials wide leg pants and half zip to possibly wear for traveling, or maybe just while I’m there. I hear Miraval is very casual, but of course I want to look nice even if I’m in athleisure. I have the crop wide leg pants, but it’s going to be chilly so I think I’ll be happy to have the full length pair for this trip and beyond.

This wellness retreat is not sponsored, although I plan to write a trip recap when I get back, and I’ll be sharing some on my Instagram Story while I’m there. But my goal is to actually relax and unplug and try to enjoy a time of relaxation and rejuvenation. It’s something I rarely do, and it is very much needed right now. My gas tank is on fumes.

I’ve got a few blog posts scheduled, so it won’t be like when I was in Italy and I didn’t post anything besides trip recaps for 10 days, but I set myself up so I don’t have any brand partnerships or big deadlines happening while I’m away.

I might even prep and schedule my emails, although I have a feeling I will want to add in a greeting and a little about what I’m up to before I send those out each day.

Okay, I’ve got one more random thing I want to mention, and then I need to cut this off and go get myself ready for church. My friends at CapitalZ gave me a special discount code I can share with you. I forgot to ask how long it’s good for, but for a limited time you can use code JOLYNNE25 to get 25% off your order.

I love their Call it a Day Crossbody; I’ve actually been carrying it this weekend. It was perfect while I was volunteering at the music event on Friday night, because I wanted a lightweight crossbody I could keep on my person, and then I ended up carrying it yesterday to pilates and then later on while we were car shopping.

They also have some fun home accessories, including these luxe candles (Happy Day is my favorite), and I’ve also got my eye on their new Soul Sister Sling Bag in the silver and the black Capital Z Logo Hat. If you’re thinking ahead to Valentine’s Day gifts, or you just need a mid-January pick-me-up, these are some great options!

Well, I’m off. Enjoy what’s left of your weekend!

  1. I hope you’re going to the Tucson location, I have a friend who goes there every year. Also, I believe it’s Oprah’s spot!

  2. I am happy for you going on this trip.
I purchased the spanx wide leg pants as well. I will be interested in your opinion.
I wore them once and felt the wide leg was tooo wide. As I was walking they were literally flopping around.. So they are currently getting tapered at my dry cleaners. I am 5’5’’. On the website they look perfectly fine on the model who is probably at least 5’9” or above. Luckily the length is fine on me.

  3. Boy, you have had a busy weekend! It sounds like you are looking forward to the break and getaway to some place warm. I pray that Caroline has a very safe drive back to school, whenever she has to return.

  4. I’m excited about your trip to Miraval. I’ve done a couple of day packages at the Miraval here in Lenox, MA and plan to do a few days in May with a friend. Have a wonderful, relaxing time!

  5. Glad you are taking a little getaway, hope you get some well deserved R&R and come home feeling refreshed and energized! Random question, is your blue couch new? I love the color!

  6. It’s 20 degrees in Texas today. It’s supposed to be in the teens tonight and tomorrow morning. I wouldn’t mind snow. I did get to finally wear my sweater dress to church today. I’m ready for 60 degrees like it was yesterday.

  7. I’m happy for you to get a get away just for you. I haven’t heard of that place before but I don’t travel much. I don’t really like to fly and with what’s happening on planes these days it’s not helping me want to.

We got 5” or so of snow yesterday in NW Oregon. The temps are very cold so it’s going to be sticking for several days. My husband had to drive me to urgent care yesterday AM in the storm as my migraine had been so severe since Friday AM. I couldn’t do it anymore. Resting up today after getting IVs yesterday that knocked me out until this AM. We had church online. Have a good restful day.

  8. I’ll be curious to see what you think of the Spanx outfit for traveling. I LOVE the feel of mine…but I have to say the lack of pockets drives me nuts! I’ve almost considered ordering a dupe…just so I can have a set that has pockets. I’ll also be curious how warm those joggers are – sounds like a good winter purchase. And I’m definitely looking forward to hearing about the wellness retreat…I’ve looked at those before an am anxious to hear what you think!

  9. So I checked out this Miraval retreat and it sounds wonderful. I think it’s really awesome that you are treating yourself to this. Enjoy

  10. Your wellness retreat sounds intriguing. Are you going by yourself or with friends? I’ve heard of Miraval Resorts, but have never been to one. If it’s the place I’m thinking of, they give you little bags to put your phone in when you arrive to encourage you to unplug. Looking forward to your comments and pictures. I hope you are able to unwind and relax and have the “me time” that you are seeking. We’ll be here when you get back! 🙂

  11. Your retreat sounds like it’s going to be lovely! It sounds like it is much needed. Enjoy and we will all be looking forward to hearing all about it!

  12. I am sooo tempted by that sling bag in silver. I had already been eyeing it myself. I love the color so much. I’ve never carried a bag in that style before, but maybe I should give it a try! I do love my other bags from them.

  13. I visited Miraval/Tucson in April 2023 and absolutely loved it, so much so that I’m returning in a few weeks. By now, you’ve discovered that the vibe there is so relaxed that people come to the dining area wearing spa robes, and that, other than your travel outfit(s), anything besides athleisure/workout wear will likely go unworn. I will be quite eager to hear your experience. I also want to try Canyon Ranch someday, though it has more of a medical focus than Miraval. Safe travels!
