Chocolate Pudding Pops . . . OH YEAH, BABY!!!!
Summertime is here in full swing, and we are all about the frozen treats in our house. I shared my Homemade Strawberry Popsicles last week, and this week I’m going to show you how easy it is to make Pudding Pops at home.
You basically just make homemade pudding, but you don’t let it get quite as thick as you would if you weren’t going to freeze it. Then just pour it into your favorite Pop Molds. The hardest part is waiting for them to be ready to eat!
Homemade Chocolate Pudding Pops
Prep time:
Total time:
Serves: 8
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 Tbsp tapioca starch
- Pinch of salt
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 large egg
- 4 ounces good quality chocolate
Instructions
- Blend the sugar, cocoa, salt and starch in a heavy saucepan.
- Place it on the stovetop, and turn the heat on medium-low.
- Gradually whisk the milk into the dry ingredients.
- Heat it until it just starts to boil, whisking constantly.
- Right when it begins to boil, remove it from the heat.
- Break an egg into a cereal bowl and beat it briskly for several seconds.
- Take a soup ladle and ladle some of the chocolate mixture into the egg, blend well, then return the egg/chocolate mixture to the saucepan.
- Stir to combine.
- Add the chocolate chips, and stir until they are dissolved.
- Very carefully pour the pudding into the popsicle molds.
- Put in freezer for several hours or overnight.
Love the from scratch recipes for these types of things. Will be trying it out this weekend. PINned it for later reference 🙂 ty
Looks delicious – – do they come out of the mold easily?
Yes, as long as you run them under hot water for a few seconds!
Can you do the same with a reg pudding box mix?
I suppose, but these are much healthier. 🙂
What kind of mold is that? That doesn’t sound right when speaking about food. 😉
Haha. For sure. Pop Molds!! They MOLD the pudding into pops! 🙂
Yum! I have these same molds. . .got them at Ross for $5!
I want these popsicle molds! I always got the thin cheap ones and the handles SNAP OFF before you can get the pop out! These look great, JL – can’t wait to try them!
These are well worth it. They’re only about $10 on Amazon with free shipping if you’re a Prime member!
Ahh, I was going to ask where you got them from. I bet my kids would love them 🙂
All of a sudden you’re looking very Bill Cosby to me. 😉 hahaha
Those look really good!
My kids would *LOVE* these! Sounds like a treat we’ll be trying when we return from Cape May….yep, Cape May….we are here after months of planning! And it all started with your review of the area. I even linked up to your posts within mine. Hope you’ll stop by and check it out (1st day and post are done…more to come as our week goes on!)
