Top Ten in May 2021

At the beginning of a new month, I like to take a look back at the previous month’s stats and see what products and posts were the most popular, so today I’m sharing my Top Ten in May 2021.

Top 10 Posts in May 2021

Based on Google Analytics, these were the 10 most popular blog posts that I published last month. These posts are listed in typical Top Ten order, with the most popular one last.

#10. What I Wore Lately Vol. 54

Always a popular feature, these are! In fact, the other two from the month ranked #11 and #13, but there were other posts that edged these out for the top nine spots…

#9. Affordable Wedding Guest Dresses for Spring and Summer

This topic seems more popular this year than usual. I don’t know if it’s because there are more weddings this season, due to people waiting for Covid restrictions to lift, or if it’s just the stage of life many of us are in. Now that my kids are getting older, their friends and my friends’ kids are going to start getting married off, I guess!

#8. Nordstrom Favorite Finds

Nordstrom is definitely one of my top retailers, and you guys loved this post. Maybe I’ll make it a monthly feature. Would you like that?

#7. Memorial Day Outfit Inspiration

This was a fun post to put together. Of course, it ended up being cold and rainy here, and we didn’t entertain after all. But these outfits will also work for July 4th.

#6. What to Buy at the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale

This sale is still going strong, in case you missed it! This is a clearance sale that ends June 6th, and then the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is coming up in July!

#5. Memorial Day Weekend Sale Roundup: What I’ve Worn on Sale

The sale posts really ranked this month. I hope this round up of Memorial Day weekend sales was helpful.

#4. Most Worn Spring Closet Staples

This is an idea I borrowed from a YouTube influencer I follow. I did one for the winter, and you guys seemed to like it, so I decided to do a spring one as well.

It’s actually quite helpful for me to see what I wore most often. These are the types of items worth investing in because the cost per wear averages out over time.

#3. Summer Fashion Try-on Haul 2021

You guys do love a try-on haul! I only did one in May this year, but I’ll probably have two in June, and then July is the #NSale, and we all know how THAT goes! It’s like a month of try-on hauls.

#2. The Best Denim Shorts for 2021

Shorts are always a hot topic around here, and my denim shorts roundup was a labor of love, so I’m glad you all liked it!

#1. Dos and Don’t for Wearing Shorts Over 40

And again, with the shorts. They are definitely tricky, and it gets harder after a certain age, but hopefully these tips are helpful. If you don’t like shorts, check out my Casual Alternatives To Shorts — a post that ranked high in April.

Okay, moving on to popular products…

Top 10 Products in May 2021

These were the 10 most popular products across my blog and social channels last month. They’re listed in typical Top Ten order, with the most popular one last.

#10. Cece Ruffle Poppy Print Blouse

I’ve had a lot of requests for pretty tops to wear to work or to pair with white pants and jeans for summer occasions, and this one is really good! It’s still available, and it also comes in pink. Size up, if in between.

#9. Talbots Sleeveless V-Neck Tee

I love this top, and I’m bummed it sold out so fast. It does come in a pretty olive green, though, and that is fully stocked.

#8. Abbey Flip Flops

These are really cute and on sale! They do run small and narrow, though, so be aware of that. Size up at least a half size from your normal.

#7. LOFT Tie Dye Tee

I love a tie dye tee, and this muscle tank style is very much on trend right now. Unfortunately, this one is low inventory, but the black one at Evereve is a good alternative.

#6. Geraldine Slides

Another cute pair of Sam Edelman sandals that are also on sale. I would say these also run small and a bit narrow, so size up half if ordering.

#5. Connected Apparel Floral Hankerchief Hem Dress

This dress is so pretty and very affordable — perfect for weddings or special events this summer. Size down, if in between.

#4. Treasure & Bond Marble Wash Tee

This tee is SUPER soft and comfortable, and I love the marble wash pattern. It comes in a bunch of other colors as well. Size down, if in between.

#3. Connected Apparel Floral V-neck Sheath Dress

Another gorgeous and affordable dress from Connected Apparel — a new brand to me this spring. This sheath is very flattering, and I also love the bold print.

#2. Camo Clare Tee

This is one of my favorite tees from the #NSale last year (the camo print), and I was so glad they brought back in this new print for spring. It says it runs small, and you may want to size up if in between, but I did go with my usual small in both prints.

And the winner is! Drumroll please . . . 🥁

#1. Izabel Stud Slides (also at Bloomies, Zappos and DSW)

By far and away, the most popular product on the blog this month was these adorable studded slide sandals. I love this rosy beige color — it’s very close to the color of my skin, so they almost disappear into the foot, but the flat silver studs give them an edgy vibe and add a little bit of bling to my casual looks.

The straps are very soft and comfortable, and the square toe is right on trend. I also like the croc embossing on the footbed of the sandal. Best of all, they go with everything from pants and jeans to shorts and skirts.

Unfortunately, this Cafe color is getting hard to find, but the other colors are good too. They run true to size, or size up if in between.

  1. Congrats to Caroline and to you, Jo-Lynne. As a parent, I know how much you have played a part in her success over the years.

  2. Oh, I’m so happy that the four of you get to attend Caroline’s high school graduation! Enjoy this special day with the family. It is so interesting to see what posts were your most popular each month. I would love to see a regular post of your favorite finds at Nordstrom, since it is one of my go-to retailers.

  3. Enjoy this wonderful day! Congratulations to Caroline. I am so happy that she will be able to celebrate this milestone with all of you and an in-person ceremony. (And thank you for helping all of us get dressed to enjoy special moments like this in our lives!)

  4. How exciting for Caroline and your family. A big day. Enjoy. Be sure to post us a family picture tomorrow. 🙂

I bought the #1 on your list. Love the studded sandals. 🙂

I would like a monthly Nordstrom picks.

  5. Lots of great blog posts in May. I would like to see your most worn pieces each season. Some things, you think you will wear a lot, but it turns out to be something you might not have been sure you’d even wear much. Sometimes it depends on fit and comfort of the item. The fit can be different, depending on body type, height, and even weight of the individual. It’s odd, but the Daily Ritual jeans and the Madewell stovepipe jeans, are my most worn, and I had my doubts about both of them.

    1. Oh, and congratulations on Caroline’s graduation! So glad you all can attend!
Also, I forgot to mention I’d also like a monthly Nordstrom post. I am so even that the Vince striped cashmere sweater finally came back in my size and I snapped it up. It pays to keep checking!

  6. Good Morning! Congratulations🎉❤ to Caroline on her Graduation. I know you all are so excited. Best Wishes in her future endeavors. My favorites were in your Top Ten! Thank you for all of your inspiration in fashion this spring. I have learned so much. I finally figured out what length of shorts to wear for my short legs and body, not to mention I’m a lot older. I love my shorts and as long as my legs look decent I will wear them. I really enjoy your blog and the Facebook group. Have a great day and Enjoy your family!!❤🌞💐

  7. Happy Graduation!! So glad you can all enjoy it together and celebrate afterwards. Our 3rd (and final) daughter graduated last week from high school and it’s oh so bitter-sweet!! Where does the time go?! She did not have many of the Senior year traditions…ring ceremony, homecoming, PROM!! However, she did enjoy a traditional graduation ceremony, surrounded by many family members, so we are very grateful! Hope you all have the best day!

  8. Congratulations to Caroline! My oldest son graduates next year, and not looking forward to him going off to college! Question, do you have links for the link bracelet and ring in the picture with the marble tee? They look like David Yurman, and I love his jewelry!

  9. Congrulations to Caroline on her graduation 🎉 So glad that your immediate family is allowed to attend the ceremony and celebrate this huge milestone with her. I loved your post on shorts….. I am self conscious of my legs and as you say, we are more critical of ourselves and others don’t pay the same attention to us as we think. Its a great suggestion to take a photo of ourselves. Somehow its different than looking in the mirror for some strange reason.

  10. Congratulations to Caroline! I hope you have a wonderful day together as a family celebrating her achievement. We had a family celebration this past weekend for my daughter and it was so wonderful. Adding my name to the list of people who would appreciate a monthly Nordstrom post. I wanted to add a tip for readers, I wound up getting a special occasion dress on Zappos, at the last minute, after I completely struck out at Nordstrom.
They have lots of brands, like Lauren by Ralph Lauren (which was what my dress wound up being), and it’s free quick shipping and free returns.

  11. Congratulations to Caroline on her graduation! So happy your immediate family can attend. It’s such a special time.
I loved the post on shorts as it’s always a struggle to find something that looks good on me. I appreciate all your posts; I learn so much about style and fit from you!
