What I Wore Lately Vol. 118

Greetings, and happy Wednesday! I hope you’ve recovered from the busy holiday weekend. I’m getting there.

Today I’ve rounded up my everyday outfits from the past couple of weeks, and I’m realizing from looking at the graphic below that I pretty much wore blue jeans every. single. day. I didn’t even realize I did that.

Oh, well! As I always say, this is real life I’m living here. I do love my blue jeans, and even when I’m dressing up, I’ve been preferring the blue denim washes to black lately.

That said, I have three pairs of black jeans getting hemmed, so once I get those back, I’ll have a little more variety in my denim-based outfits. ANYWHO. Let’s get this party started.

Two Weeks of Everyday Outfits

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small in tops and dresses, a 29 in jeans, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.

These looks harken back to the Thursday two weeks ago, and I had a photo shoot that morning. Afterwards, I changed into athleisure to go to PT, and I had a doctor appointment immediately after that, so I just stayed this way for the rest of the day. It was kind of a waste of a good hair and makeup day, but what can you do???

I took a friend to lunch for her birthday that Friday, so I dressed up a bit. I wanted a fall vibe, and rather than reinventing the wheel, I wore this popular outfit from last season.

Because it’s from last season, nothing I’m wearing is still available (other than the boots) so I tried to find similar products to link. These coated jeans are like a raisin color, which I love, but I’m having trouble finding anything quite like them. Maybe someone reading along has a suggestion.

It was a mild day, and I was running late (what else is new?) so I didn’t bother with a coat.

My daughter and I went shopping the next day, and I wore this cozy look with a neural fair isle sweater and my favorite jeans as of late.

I first tried it with my new LØCI sneakers… more on these in my next Try-On Haul!

At the time, I wasn’t sure I was keeping those sneakers, so I switched into my cozy UGG Minis.

And I topped it all off with my new J.Crew Daphne Topcoat. I like the mix of dressy and casual in this look. I feel like it gives these classic pieces a more modern vibe.

This is my uniform for walking the dog these days when it’s not super cold outside. I just grabbed a picture on a random morning, so I could add it in here.

Vuori jacket c/o (S) // Zella performance tee (S) // Athleta Balance Flare (S) // On Cloud sneakers (8.5)

And this is another cozy walk-the-dog outfit that I’ve had on repeat lately… Notice the little furry head at the bottom of this photo. Savannah was waiting patiently for me to take my picture because she knew we were going for a walk.

This is what I wore to church the next Sunday morning. I just picked up these MOTHER Hustler ankle flare jeans when they were on sale last week, to have another pair of shorter jeans, since I’m wearing the Dazzlers so much.

I was curious to try them with these black suede low heeled pointy toe booties, and I love the combo. Of course, full length flares would look good too, but I like this ankle length for showing off my booties. It keeps the look modern and fun.

This animal print blouse is also a new addition this fall. I’m loving anything Rails these days! I first tried it front-tucked, but in combination with the high rise of the jeans, I felt like it called too much attention to my middle-aged middle, so I tried it left out.

Normally I don’t let flowy tops just hang because it looks unfinished and adds visual weight, but this one has such a nice drape, and the 23 1/2″ length is in my sweet spot range, so I feel like it looks more natural left untucked.

Longer jeans might balance out my proportions better, but I still feel like this works, and it felt more authentic to wear it this way. I accessorized with bold gold hoops and a layered necklace.

And once again, I topped it all off with my new camel topcoat. Black would work too, of course, but I like how the camel complements the medium wash blue jeans, and it also coordinates with the colors in the blouse.

These boots are remarkably comfortable for a dressy bootie, by the way. The top of the shaft is soft against my leg, and the low heel is very walkable. I highly recommend them.

Later in the afternoon, Paul and I went out for a casual dinner, and I changed into a slightly less dressy outfit with the same jeans.

Treasure & Bond jacket (S) // Caslon long sleeve tee (S) // MOTHER Hustler in Healing Jar (29) (option) // Dolce Vita boots (8) // similar belt // Coach bucket bag // J. Crew earrings // similar necklace

This was a casual day working from home, but evidently I didn’t get a picture until that evening. And hey, look! I did wear black jeans once this week.

The next evening, I went to the mall to do some Christmas shopping with Paul. I hadn’t intended to keep this Rails jacket. I just ordered it for a try-on haul to show you all another jacket option, but when I tried it on, I liked it too much to return it. #occupationalhazards

It’s pricey, but black is so versatile in my wardrobe, I’m sure I’ll get my cost per wear out of it eventually. I’ll keep my eye on it and let you all know if it goes on sale anywhere. If you’re not into black, it also comes in this fun plaid.

I wore this simple outfit to an appointment one afternoon. I haven’t worn these Vince flats from the #NSale very much because they’re a warmer tone than much of what I wear, but I love them, and I was happy to see how well they work with this sweater and coat.

J. Crew coat (6) // Jenni Kayne Everyday Sweater (S) // MOTHER Dazzler (29) (budget option) // Vince Cesta flats (8) (similar) // Jenny Bird earrings

I guess I wore black jeans twice in the past two weeks, although I didn’t wear this outfit for very long. I put it on for Thanksgiving, but I ended up changing before our guests arrived. I don’t really know why, I just wasn’t feeling this casual look for Thanksgiving Day.

Lou & Grey colorblock sweater (S) // AG Mari (29) // UGG slippers (8) // Jenny Bird earrings

This is what I ended up wearing for most of the day. I just felt like I wanted something slightly more dressed-up, but I still needed to be comfortable. This sweater isn’t very thick or warm, so it was perfect for hosting a gathering, when I tend to get overheated.

Splendid cardigan (S) // MOTHER Weekender (29) (budget option) // Dolce Vita boots (8) // Jenny Bird earrings // similar pendant

We went to the tree farm the next day to get our family Christmas tree, and I felt like this sweater looked appropriately festive. I wore my lug sole boots in case I got muddy, and that meant I was back to my MOTHER Dazzlers.

I’m wearing these jeans way too much lately, but they’re the only blue jeans I have that I like with flats right now. I can’t seem to find the right pair for a more updated look, so it is what it is.

I’ve never been bothered by wearing the same item of clothing on repeat. If I love it, I tend to wear it a lot.

Sundry Fair Isle sweater (1) // MOTHER Dazzler (29) (budget option) // Steve Madden boots (8) // Lagos earrings

We had plans to go out to a casual dinner with friends that night, and I wanted to look nice but not too over the top. I started with the MOTHER Hustler ankle flares and Vince low heeled black booties because I knew they’d work together.

From there, I had plenty of options for tops, almost too many. I considered one of my cute jackets, but it was a really cold night, so I decided to choose a sweater that I could wear under my long puffer coat.

This stripe cardigan seemed like a good option since it’s more interesting than a solid pullover, and the black stripes coordinate with the black shoes.

Rails cardigan (S) // MOTHER Hustler in Healing Jar (29) (option) // Vince boots (8.5) // old John Hardy hoops // similar pendant

Last Saturday, my daughter and I went to the mall again, and I pulled this outfit together with this olive corduroy jacket.

I like each individual piece, but I don’t really care for the way the shirt and jacket are the same length when the shirt is tucked, and it’s too long to leave out. I’ll play around with other options.

Thread & Supply Corduroy jacket (S) // Splendid henley (M) // MOTHER Dazzler (29) (budget option) // P448 Monza sneakers (39) (budget option) // old John Hardy hoops // similar pendant

And that brings us to last Sunday! I haven’t worn this Rails Harris stripe collared sweater as much as I thought I would, so I built my outfit around it.

These boots are also a newer purchase; I wanted something in this color, so when I saw this Vince pair on sale, I snagged them before they can sell out!

Rails Harris sweater (S) // Paige Laurel Canyon jeans (29) // Vince boots (8) // old John Hardy hoops // similar pendant

And I topped it once again with, wait for it… my J.Crew Daphne Topcoat. I love how it goes with so many of my tops, and it really has a way of elevating a basic denim outfit.

J. Crew coat (6) // Rails Harris sweater (S) // Paige Laurel Canyon jeans (29) // Vince boots (8) // Coach bucket bag // old John Hardy hoops // similar pendant

I re-wore this outfit to go out to an early dinner later that afternoon. It was probably silly to change, but I didn’t want to wear the higher heels, so that meant I couldn’t wear those jeans, so I just grabbed this outfit off the chair in my bedroom and threw it on again.

verrry old Burberry Brit Finsbridge quilted coat (M) option // Rails cardigan (S) // MOTHER Hustler in Healing Jar (29) // Vince boots (8.5) // old John Hardy hoops // similar pendant

And once again, I wore this yesterday to walk the dog and go to PT.

I would have kept that on for the rest of the day, but I had two Zoom calls, so I decided to put on real clothes. By the looks of this picture, I should have put on more makeup too. I’m looking a little rough. Oh, well!

Also, I really don’t care for the length of this shorter (21″) sweater with these mid-rise jeans. It looks better with high rises, so I need to keep that in mind. I could have probably sized up to a medium, too, but I’m wearing the small.

It served its purpose for my Zoom calls, though. I wish they hadn’t discontinued this color; it’s so pretty and flatters almost everyone. Perfect for being on camera!

Everlane Boxy Crew (S) // MOTHER Dazzler (29) (budget option) // UGG Ultra Mini (8) // Lagos earrings

And that, as they say, is a wrap! I cannot believe we are now officially in holiday mode. I have events the next two weekends, so I’ll definitely have more variety in my outfits next time I post what I wore lately.

  1. Love these posts. If I did one, there would definitely also be a lot of blue jeans, lol. I only go into the office one or two days a week and quite often I end up wearing jeans even for that… although I try to do a more elevated jeans look. Today I actually have to go to a meeting where I can’t wear jeans and it feels annoying to have to dress up! Have a great day!

  2. When I see the “What I Wore Lately” posts, I think “Yay!” I feel most like myself when I wear jeans and a sweater or yoga pants. I’ve learned from your posts to dress so that you feel like your true self. Thanks for all the outfit ideas! I love the Lou and Grey color block sweater!

  3. I really like your Vuori coat. Could you wear it with jeans? I also saw they have a coat called Canyon do you think that would be better? Just for marching band and kids sports. Nothing fancy. Thanks

  4. Great post! You look so good in the camel JCrew coat. I noticed in the reviews that it’s not lined which I think would bother me. How do you feel about that? Is it difficult take off and on?

  5. I really do enjoy these posts. I really like the color block sweater that you did not wear on Thanksgiving. I hope that the PT is helping!

    1. Thanks, Ginger. I don’t think anything will fix my arm/back/shoulder situation as long as I’m spending so much time at the computer. I’m trying to get up more, and work on my laptop more, and do more Pilates classes b/c I always feel better after those. My ankle seems to be doing better.

      1. Do you use an ergonomic keyboard? You could also try rolling up a thin hand towel and placing under your wrists to elevate them. It might also help to alternate between your office chair and something more comfortable like a recliner to give you a break from sitting upright. I’m a nurse and worked a temp job in an industrial setting. The regular nurses always told the workers if something hurts while they’re working, it’s often a symptom of incorrect body mechanics. Or a need for an additional supportive device.

        1. I’ve tried a lot of things, but unfortunately, it is when I gave up my standing desk that this all started. I am trying to work on my laptop more, so I get a break from my desk.

      2. Also if you haven’t already tried this, pull your keyboard down into your lap in the chair. If it seems to work, you could buy a lap desk for your keyboard and mouse.

  6. I wear jeans alll the time, too. It’s the exception to see me in pants/trousers. I love the shorter jackets you’ve introduced this season. I’m only buying shorter this year to compliment the higher waisted straight leg jeans.

As an aside and not trying to be rude but I still think Uggs are big and clunky and frumpy.

  7. Just wondering if you’ve Ever worn slip on skechers, the ones that look closer to a ballet flat to elevate the look from
    just a sneaker.

  8. ?You see quality in this Rails jacket, really flattering! I also wear blue jeans a majority of the time except for summer, am looking for a new pair that would be warmer than some I currently own; don’t like wearing the cuddleduds underneath them. Also love my jogger/leggings which are not always warm enough and don’t want to get too used to them, heaven forbid I don’t need to add more weight around my middle.
Any suggestions on the jeans? Enjoy your day!

      1. Thanks Jolynn, glad you mentioned the Paige jeans because my white ones are a nice thicker fabric and I’ll bet the blue jeans will be the ticket! I’m going to try and link some you have featured recently.

  9. The short, wool Rails jacket should be just the thing for many occasions. I have one similar to it that buttons up and I wear it regularly when I want something nice-looking, yet warm and light-weight. It was perfect for wearing to a Depeche Mode concert a couple nights ago!

  10. I love these posts! You always look so put-together!! I really like your brown plaid jacket; is that something you will wear into winter, or is it strictly fall? I bought the black one, but I keep thinking about the plaid one.

  11. Love the outfit you wore to lunch with your friend! I’m always glad to see repeat outfits, even if the items are older and not in stock. I tend to keep most items for a couple years at least. But often the outfits like this give me an idea for a new combo with pieces I already have.

  12. I never thought I’d say this, but I bought those mini Uggs and I love them! Yes, Muppet feet, but they’re so comfortable and they actually make my big size 8 1/2 feet look not so big! Super glad I got them, and I was an avowed “never wearing Uggs” person!

    1. So glad you like them! I never wore this style in the higher boot, although I had other UGG boot styles that I loved. But this pair is so easy to throw on with jeans, and even those Athleta flares on super casual days. I wear them around the house as slippers too.

  13. Love these posts! I really appreciate that you wear your jeans & sweaters in multiple ways & on multiple days. When I go back to previous posts for reference, I always notice the trees in the background. I love seeing the different seasons displayed!
