Top Ten In August {2019}

Well, friends! Labor Day weekend is over, and I’m ready to embrace fall and all the apples and pumpkins and sweaters and boots. But first, let’s take a look back. These are my ten most popular blog posts and retail products from the month of August.

Top Ten In August {2019} :: My post popular posts and products during the month of August!

TOP 10 POSTS IN AUGUST 2019

Based on Google Analytics, these were my top 10 posts from the month of August. I’m listing these in typical Top Ten order, with the month’s most popular post last.

MY DAILY LOOKS: WHAT I WORE

#10. My Daily Looks: What I Wore // Always a popular feature . . . In fact, this is how I got started sharing my personal style on the blog many moons ago.

I participated in a popular linkup called What I Wore Wednesday, and we would share our outfits from the week. It was was meant to be a source of accountability for stay-at-home moms to get dressed every day. Little did I know what it would turn into…

#9. My Daily Looks: What I Wore // Yes, another What I Wore post in the Top Ten!

I always get a lot of requests for these posts, so I’m planning on doing them every other week on Wednesdays (it just seemed fitting.)

I’m trying to be more consistent with grabbing a snap of my daily outfits, even if I don’t post them anywhere else.

#8. 6 Wearable Makeup Trends for Fall 2019 // I’ve been getting some requests for makeup trends, so I pulled this post together after doing a bit of internet research.

My favorite fall makeup trend this year is mauve. In fact, I’m wearing Married to the Mauve on my nails right now!

#7. Try On Haul: Black Tie Optional Dresses for a Fall Wedding // The only regular feature more popular than What I Wore… my Try-On Hauls.

This black tie optional haul was a fun one, and a little different for me. I did finally find The Dress, but it’s not one of the ones in this post. However, all of your responses helped me hone in on what I wanted for this event, so thank you!

#6. July Try-On Haul // Yep, another Try-On Haul. This post was published in August, but it was what I wore during the month of July.

#5. Best & Worst Purchases: Spring/Summer 2019 // This post was a fun one to write, and hopefully it will help me make better purchasing decisions going forward.

Fall Fashion Forecast 2019 Fall Fashion Trends

#4. Fall Fashion Forecast // Everyone always likes to know what’s ahead for trends, and fall is everyone’s favorite fashion season, so I wasn’t surprised when this post was well-received. You guys are definitely excited for fall fashion!

#3. Try On Haul: Loft + White House Black Market // Yep, another try-on haul. You can see why I’m making these a weekly feature.

#2. Fall Wardrobe Essentials // This post is always one of my most popular, and while it doesn’t change much from year to year, I tried to freshen it up a bit for this fall season. I included some broader categories to make it more useful for all. I hope you liked it!

#1. What Are Cigarette Jeans {And Why I’m Embracing Them This Fall} // Denim trends are shifting this year, and I’m trying to figure out how to look current while staying true to what looks best on my body. A lot of you seem to be in the same boat, and cigarette jeans are a nice way to walk that fine line between skinnies and straight leg jeans.

I’ve had a lot of questions about how to wear this style when it gets colder, so I’ll be working on a post for that soon!

Okay, moving on to popular products…

TOP 10 PRODUCTS IN AUGUST 2019

Based on my ShopStyle analytics, these were the 10 most popular products across my blog and social channels during the month of August.

#10. Caslon Crop Utility Pants // These are a nice alternative to the pricey Paige cargo joggers I’ve been wearing so much this summer. They’re flattering and very affordable, especially now that they’re 40% off!

These also come in petites, and I recommend sizing down if in between; I have the 6 regular.

#9. Lou & Grey Cosmic Joggers // I originally shared these in a LOFT try-on haul, and evidently a lot of you liked them! These are made of tencel and are super comfortable and great for travel.

They’re currently on sale for $49.50, and I’m wearing the Deep Dark Grey in a size small.

#8. KUT from the Kloth Bootcut Jeans // SUCH good bootcut jeans in a classic dark wash. These are uber flattering, and the price is great too — they’re currently 40% off!

These jeans also come in petites, and I recommend sizing down if in between; I have the 6 regular.

#7. Vince Camuto Sleeveless Crepe Sheath Dress // I wore this dress to an afternoon wedding earlier in August. It’s the quintessential classic sheath — super versatile and a gorgeous shade of hot pink.

This dress also comes in petites, and you’ll definitely want to size up if ordering; I ended up in the 12.

#6. Nordstrom at Home Kennebunk Bliss Plush Throw // This throw blanket was part of the #NSale, and it makes a wonderful gift. I wish I’d stocked up.

We just ended up one for our own use, and it is absolutely the softest, coziest thing. Best of all, it doesn’t shed.

#5. Lou & Grey Sleeveless Cowl Top // I love a sleeveless cowl neck top for fall, and this is one they brought it back for a 2nd year and made it even better.

It’s a little bit shorter than last year’s, which I like, but I would still recommend sizing down. This is the small, and it’s pretty roomy.

#4. CND Vinylux Weekly Nail Polish in Naked Naivete // This is my favorite summer nail color — it’s such a pretty light neutral. I usually gravitate to deeper tones in the fall and winter, but if you prefer more natural looking shades, this is a good one to wear all year-round.

#3. Caslon Cowl Neck Sweater // This one caught me by surprise! I mean, it’s a great sweater, but I didn’t realize it was so popular last month. It’s 100% cotton, so perfect for those who prefer natural fibers, and it fits TTS for Caslon. I’m wearing the small. Also, it’s 40% off.

#2. KUT from the Kloth High Waist Ankle Cigarette Jeans // Cigarette leg jeans are cut straight from knee to ankle, a subtle variation on the more figure-hugging skinny jeans we’ve grown so accustomed to wearing over the past few years.

This style is not new, but it’s seeing a resurgence in popularity right now, and this pair is a nice affordable option in a versatile mid-indigo wash.

And in 1st place . . . drum roll please! 🥁

#1. AG Prima Ankle Skinny Jeans // This is the 2nd month in a row that these jeans came in at 1st place!!!

Unfortunately they are one of the few #NSale items that have not been marked down again, but I’ll keep an eye on them for you.

These jeans have replaced my AG legging ankle jeans as my favorite denim, which I didn’t think would ever happen. The straighter leg style is a little more of-the-moment, but they have that same AG comfort and their impeccable wash. So, so good.

I’d love to hear from you! Which posts from August were your favorites, and did you score any of these top 10 products?

Now that August is behind us, I’m super excited to look ahead to September and start wearing sweaters and boots. Bring on fall!

  1. Love reading these! Love my AG Primas as well, but I’m not sure they’ve replaced my AG legging ankle jeans yet. 😉

And I love that waffle v-neck from Anthro that you featured in the email, but then I checked out the price. Hopefully it goes on sale. I love Anthro, but they are definitely pricey. (Actually, now that i think about it, I need to see if their teacher discount is still in effect…off to the Anthro site!!!)

  2. Well our warm weather is holding on… but I’m looking forward to what you have in store for us on the fall fashion. I always love the try on sessions:)
    Have a great day😀

  3. I’m ready for the “Everything pumpkin” season!  My only purchase from your recommendations was the Kennebunk throw.  The color I got is sort of a rust pumpkin color.  Absolutely love it!  We’ve had a few cool nights so it’s been getting some use.   I always love your try on hauls, so much useful info as to what works & what doesn’t work!

  4. Happy September! I love that you shared about your blogging start “What I Wore Wednesday”. I found it interesting to know and didn’t remember reading that ever before. I also love these recaps from your prior posts because I go back and remembered things I liked. Like the Caslon crop utility pants that come in petite, I may just have to order them this time.

  5. I am also loving my Prima AG jeans. They seem to get softer and softer with wear (and I have not washed them yet!!). Can’t wait to start wearing them with ankle boots. I usually cuff mine a little. And I also have the very soft LOFT sleeveless cowl. Wearing it alone now, but will look adorable under a cardi or denim jacket. Love your Try-on Hauls. Will you be resuming your Facebook Lives??

  6. Love the try on sessions! Helps me to problem solve as you and I have similar shapes. Now that its September, may treat myself to a PSL! Back to work, back to reality!😉

  7. Your try on sessions are definitely a favorite and explaining cigarette jeans. I purchased the floral blouse from WHBM during a sale for $25! It was my first purchase from that store and the quality of the blouse is nice and not see through. I plan to wear it for date night too. Thanks for doing the hard work of finding nice clothes!

  8. Your post on cigarette jeans was very helpful in explaining the differences. Would you do one on bags? There are so many different styles.
