Coffee Talk 10.30.22

It’s been a whirlwind of a weekend over here. We had a last minute invite to join friends on Friday for an overnight trip to a cool little town in Lancaster County called Lititz. They have a nice downtown area with lots of shops and eateries, and Lititz is also the home of Wilbur Chocolate.

We stayed at The Wilbur Hotel, which is the original chocolate factory. At some point, the factory moved across the street, and they converted the old building into a luxury hotel. It’s really lovely.

I love how they retained so much of the original iron and brickwork, and even the decor gives a nod to its industrial roots, but it’s all done in a very classy way. Here’s a picture we took as we were on our way to dinner in the sitting room that connects the hotel to the Blackworth Live Fire Grill.

Evidently the Blackworth Live Fire Grill is independently owned by a local Mennonite family — we learned this at breakfast the next morning from our very friendly server. They have a contract with the Hilton, so they don’t have to offer the typical breakfast buffet. It was all served off the menu and cooked from scratch. We also ate there for dinner the night before, and both meals were delicious.

While we were there, I decided to take advantage of the scenic park next to the hotel, so Paul dusted off his camera, and I brought a few outfits to shoot for an upcoming collaboration with Talbots.

Speaking of Talbots, this sweater that was a top seller this week is currently 25% off in cart, and this sweater dress is 30% off. The sweater dress is one of the items we photographed yesterday. I love a sweater dress in the fall and winter, and this one is really flattering.

Then last night was Becca’s final marching band cavalcade, and that was bittersweet, as always. She’s still fighting a cold and not feeling well, and it sounds like half the band is in the same boat, but they powered through. They really run themselves ragged, but they have such a good time.

I hope she can get some rest and recover before the Indoor Drumline ramps up. They will start practicing almost right away, but they don’t have any competitions until after Christmas. Then it’s one almost every weekend. I don’t know when we’re going to fit in college visits.

So yeah, that is the latest from our neck of the woods. That and the Phillies! I guess they lost the 2nd game of the World Series last night. Paul and David stayed up to watch, but I went to bed.

We’re definitely not the favored team, but the unexpected win on Friday night was a huge boost for all of our fans. Now everyone is holding their breath, waiting to see how it all turns out.

If you’re not a sports fan, you’re in good company. I’m only aware because it’s all anyone can talk about around here… and by “around here” I mean all of the Philadelphia region, not just my boys.

In other news, I want to give y’all a heads-up that my Victoria Emerson jewelry collection (as well as the rest of the website) is all $15! And the EBY bralette I shared in Thursday’s post is BOGO free. I just ordered this other style to try. It’s a lot like the True & Co. bralettes I wear, so I want to compare.

And with that, I’m going to hop off here and get ready for church. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  1. Love your outfit! We just did a little day drive up to Lancaster County a couple of weeks ago. It was beautiful! Loved all of the gorgeous mums, specialty pumpkins, and of course, apples!
I bought the Gap jeans this week and I’m so happy they fit like a dream, and for less than $25! Thank you!

  2. What a great deal on Victoria Emerson! I’ve never worn any of her items. I noticed the minis have a clasp. I typically struggle to fasten a clasp on bracelets, have you found these to be difficult to get on and off?

  3. Ohhh, thanks for the recommendation in Lititz! We stay overnight in the Lancaster area several times a year, and have visited Lititz many times, but not overnight! Sounds like a great place. We love the quirky little restaurant on the corner, Tomato Pie!! Can’t wait to see your Talbots collab. GO PHILLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Thank you for what you do. I have been meaning to comment that you help us so much in not only deciding what to wear or not-but also showing us what is out there. I used to love to shop and now it just doesn’t interest me. But I don’t want to look dowdy! I love your style and how it isn’t costumey or loud. But a beautiful lady keeping up with the times and showing others what looks good!

  5. Jolynne, can you tell me about your partial breast reduction? I live in Texas but want to consider having the same surgery you did. Thank you!! (Oh, and Go Astros!) 🙂

  6. Hi JoLynne—Have you purchased the Talbot’s zippered sweater? I love the style but the reviews are not great. Many are complaining of pilling and shedding significantly. I’m assuming it must stem from the fabric content. Any first-hand experience with this sweater? Thank you.

  7. It sounds like y’all have had an enjoyable, but very busy weekend! I hope that all of you can get some rest this afternoon.

  8. Since the Red Sox aren’t in it, I’m rooting for the Phillies!

Love the hotel pics. Looks like a very cool place to stay.

  9. My son lives in the apartments behind the Wilbur and we go there whenever we can. It’s a very picturesque town. Did you visit Linden Hall? It’s another great spot for a photo shoot. Can’t wait to see your photos and your Talbots outfits!
